Rèn is a child cursed by the heavens to suffer at every step of his life - from his parents burning down in a comical kitchen-related accident, lightning striking him every monday morning, hooligans gaining mysterious powers to break his knees, to great cultivators breaking his spine instead. Thankfully, life found balance in all this suffering, and blessed him with immense talent and thirst for freedom that scares the stagnant rulers of the realm. His intent is accumulating power and truth regarding his past, and set things right once and for all.

In his past lives, he was a great cultivator, a sage wise beyond his years. When learning of the wheel of life and the brutal buracracy behind karma and reincarnation, he sought to dismantle it and bring true freedom to creation; alas, he tasted failure and judgement, a thousand reincarnations filled with agony and suffering for his transgression. Heavenly tyrants expected to break his spirit, but had found out that with each life, the sage's essence had only grown stronger, overcoming their challenges little by little. To try and hold a desire so familiar to all humans is to court death.

Personality-wise, Shi is a good-natured young man, an eternal optimist who meets all pain and injustice as an opportunity to grow above it and build a better future. His short life earned his knowledge and wisdom he eagerly shares with those around him, and pranks to lighten the spirit. To cope with pain, you only need a chuckle. To see everyone smile is his dream, for that would mean a day where cruelty has been defeated by hope.
