They're very durable for something so thin. They do no damage at all until their sharpness is activated with chakra, which makes them become capable of almost effortlessly slicing through normal flesh. In their non sharp state, they're good for grabbing things. Areas of a thread can be selectively made sharp, useful for not hurting the user and avoiding damage to key objects. The threads can be controlled to fly and move in whatever direction the user wants. They're fast moving, but the force they exert by this control isn't much, so it needs to be supplemented by the user moving the threads with their body in conjecture to controlling them to damage things with high durability. If they're severed from the user, they can't be controlled anymore, but threads connected to the user can reconnect with severed ones. Only creating, controlling, and making the threads sharp cost chakra. The already existing threads do not need to be maintained and can exist indefinitely, so Akaito keeps a lot with him at all times. >Backstory: An orphan, Akaito was taken in by a kind librarian couple that couldn't have kids when they were visiting a friend in Amegakure. He spent much of his childhood reading mostly history books written by family members of previous generations- the family isn't powerful, but it has survived for a long time, so it has many personal historical accounts. He became convinced that all wars come from there being many villages, so he determined that the solution is to only have one village. He tries to convince everyone he can of his goal: world unification. He believes that it will bring peace and unprecedented prosperity to all, an utopia! Many believe that unification is impossible and that trying to do so will get Konohagakure destroyed. He is young, so this goal of his is regarded as the naivety of youth by elders (except one...), but he has convinced quite a few of his generation. How is he going to unify the world? Conquest, of course! Diplomacy? Impossible. There's no way other villages can be talked into submission. Who is going to rule the unified world? Akaito, of course! He would never trust anyone else with such an important job. >Personality: Charismatic and manipulative, Akaito has crafted a perfect leader persona, gaining many followers but little true friends. A true friend is someone he respects and he only respects equals in intelligence, knowledge, or power (he won't suddenly lose respect for a friend if they lose their qualifications; he's not that insane. He would try to help them regain their former glory). A true friend is someone he can trust. When with true friends, he can relax and not worry about preserving his image, so he tends to be somewhat lethargic around them as he rests his mind from constantly acting perfect. Interactions with those he finds beneath him bores him, but he puts up with it and doesn't show his distaste for the sake of his goal. >Combat Style: He uses traps a lot, most of which he can activate or deactivate at any time as they're connected with threads. Wind is used to make threads move faster and prevent other wind from interfering with them. With Sensory Arts (touch), he can sense all movements of his threads, so he is aware of most things in his surroundings, though not very precisely. He likes to ambush by concealing many of shuriken, kunai, and environmental traps everywhere set up in a way that makes them impossible to avoid as any movement will trigger traps and dodging one set of them just means being hit by another. The real killer isn't those traps though; it's the already hard to sense chakra threads further hidden by Concealment Arts. At the right moment, he'll make the threads sharp and coil around enemies, slicing them in every direction. Even if the threads cannot deal much damage to an enemy for whatever reason, they can restrain and strangle and with enough threads coiled around one location, damage will naturally increase and any defense will be ground down. He himself is only decently stealthy, so he usually waits for enemies to get near the middle of his ambush preparations before approaching and activating the traps and threads. In battles where he hasn't set up things beforehand, he gets as far away from the enemies as possible as fast as possible while throwing shuriken and kunai at them and imperceptibly controlling threads to spread around the area, waiting for the perfect moment to use them to surprise the enemies. If the enemies know about his threads, he doesn't bother hiding them and makes threads head towards them from all directions.
