Purify the Element Mercury - Clean a sample of pure mercury with pure water or rain water.

    Squeeze the Mercury out with some leather

    Cover the dried mercury with powdered, dry sea salt and mix with a mortar and pestle.

    Depending on the impurity of the mercury, the salt may darken. So wash it out with the previously mentioned rainwater/pure water

    Repeat steps 3-4 two more times if necessary.

    Put the mercury with an equal amount of sea salt and cover with 10% acetic acid distilled vinegar

    Mix the three together for ten minutes

    Press it through a chamois (piece of leather), leaving no residue of the mercury as it rolls off. This is the purified mercury

    Now an animation of mercury is required. To do this in the simplest method, get tiny bits of gold, and grind to a powder with salt and vinegar to a paste.

    Wash out the salt and let the gold dry

    Add 29 parts of mercury to 1.25 parts gold and grind

    Wash the substance with water, and wipe with a paper towel and let it dry in a strong, glass container.

    Heat this glass to about 40 degrees Celsius for 3 months

    Heat for another three months at around 60 degrees Celsius

    This is animated mercury, and you'll probably need a significant quantity of it for later. Mix the animated mercury with an equal part of sulfur, as the matter will turn black. This is mercury sulfide.

    Keep grinding until there are no globules of mercury. To see if there are globules, use a magnifying glass

    Mix the material (cinnabar) with an equal weight of iron filings.

    Dry Distill, with the receiving end being filled with water.

    The output will give animated mercury, which would then be mixed four parts with one part fine gold, and combine it with a mortar.

    Wash with water

    Place in a container (1/3 of the container filled) and heat for 50 degrees Celsius

    Once it reaches 50 degrees, quickly seal it and let it cool

    Let it stay at 40-50 degrees Celsius for yet another three months. The matter will turn black

    Once it is completely black, raise the heat to 60-65 degrees

    After two to three months, it will enter a new stage, the Peacock's tail stage, as a reference to its new colors, to become white soon

    After nine months, the matter is now completely white. Over the next several months, slowly raise the temperature to about 130 degrees. It'll soon be yellow, and then red

    Heat to 200 degrees Celsius for two more months.

    Allow it to slowly cool, then break the container, and you have the Red Stone in the first degree (this according to the author is for medicine)

    For metallic transmutation, grind a portion of the red stone with six times its weight of animated mercury. Wash it with rain water or pure water seven times

    Remove the excess mercury with that leather previously mentioned

    Heat the stone in glass for three more months at each of the temperatures (40 degrees, 65 degrees, 130 degrees, and 200 degrees Celsius)

    Break open the glass, and you now have the philosopher's stone, a small piece of it filed of can turn a bit of a base metal into gold
